What is exactly is cupping?
This remarkable therapy employs negative
pressure, rather than tissue compression, for superior results in the wide array of bodywork techniques. Suction cup therapy is a traditional, time-honored treatment that remains favored by millions of people worldwide because it's safe, comfortable and remarkably effective.
How is cupping accomplished?
The cup is positioned over the treatment area and, depending on the type of cups being used; a vacuum is created by reducing the pressure inside the cup, therefore stretching the underlying tissues up into the cup.
What can I expect as far as physical effects from cupping therapy?
The after effects of cupping are most intense at the beginning of receiving treatments, and lessen
dramatically as your system becomes accustomed to the treatments as they accumulate. You may or may not experience any noticable systemic effects.
After effects include, but are not limited to:
-
-
The need for sleep
-
Itchiness on the cupped area
-
"Hung over feeling"
-
What are the marks left behind by cupping?
The marks that are left behind from the cups are not bruises.
They are not painful.
The suction from the cups is bringing up all the cellular waste and toxic material that has been stagnating in the tissue and blood stream for a long time.
When it comes to the surface that is what creates the "marks"
The marks will be darker in areas of greater tension and toxicity.
The marks will be more prolific and darker the first time you have a cupping treatment.
The more water you drink after the session, the faster the marks will fade. The more often you receive cupping the less you will mark up.
If you are at all uncomfortable about the marks that the cups will leave behind, I am happy to discuss your concerns.
